Alex has now been with us for six months and is already a much valued member of the team here. She has started her Veterinary Nursing course at Hartpury College, which means she will be away from the surgery for one day every week during term time for the next two years.
The Veterinary Nursing course is run in conjunction with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and consists of theoretical tuition and written exams at college, work based learning and accumulation of case logs demonstrating knowledge and practical ability, and practical assessments in the veterinary surgery, covering a wide range of skills from basic husbandry to radiography, laboratory work and critical care nursing. In addition, at the end of these two years of hard work, success in the final examinations (practical and written) will see Alex qualify as an RCVS recognised Registered Veterinary Nurse.
We are delighted that Alex has decided to take this step and wish her every success!
